Inspired by the 1990 Scotland Rugby Grand Slam winning team
Scotland Rugby Shirt 1990 Grand Slam. Our inspiration. The Ellis Rugby 1990 Scotland Rugby Sweatshirt Zipper is inspired by the famous Scotland 1990 Grand Slam team captained by David Sole.

England or Scotland?
England was in fine form in the 1990 Five Nations. They defeated Ireland 29-0 at Twickenham. Then thrashed the French 26-7 in Paris. Before winning at the Arms Park comfortably 34-6 over Wales. They had scored 80 points. This included 11 tries in only three matches. The odds were heavily stacked on England winning the Grand Slam. All they had to do was beat the Scots in Edinburgh. England was captained by Will Carling. Who seemed hyper-confident in his own abilities. The team had produced some scintillating rugby.

In contrast. Scotland was still undefeated. But had displayed little of the same flair. They edged past Ireland 13-10 with two tries from Derek White. And then narrowly saw off the Welsh 13-9 in Cardiff. And their final match. Before the decider was a 21-0 victory over France. Scotland was helped with the sending off of Alain Carminati.

So, it seemed a difficult task for David Sole and his team. But, the build-up generated great excitement in the country. And anticipation grew as the showdown loomed. On the 17th March 1990. The team is led by David Sole. They marched out onto the pitch like gladiators. Slow, brooding, and menacing. Then the crowd unleashed a cauldron of noise.

The Decider inspired the Scotland Rugby 1990 Shirt Grand Slam
Both England and Scotland went into the match dreaming of the Grand Slam. On the day Scotland triumphed. At the interval, the game was on a knife-edge. It was 6-4. But, almost immediately in the second half. Gavin Hastings broke free, chipped ahead. And Tony Stanger followed up to score the try which gave the Scots the edge.
The 13-7 win at a packed-out BT Murrayfield. It secured Scotland’s third, and most recent, Grand Slam.
